suncare

A little bit of sunshine is good for the body and mind; but of course too much of a good thing will do more harm than good, so we need to be smart about sun safety and outdoors and choose natural sunscreens for healthy skin protection. Ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun can wreak havoc on the skin, causing sunburns and premature ageing, and also increasing the risk of skin cancer. There is good news though; Mother Nature has given us a wide range of highly effective, all-natural sun protectants to keep our skin safe and healthy. Many of these plant oils and extracts are used as ingredients in our natural sunblocks; we highly recommend adding any of them to your skincare regime before (and during) the sunny summer months!

What is Ghee?

Ghee is a type of clarified butter that originates in India; it is made by simmering regular butter over a low heat, until most of the liquid content evaporates. During the process of making ghee, all the water and the milk solids are removed from the butter, leaving behind a smooth golden-yellow substance that’s high in nutrients but free of impurities and dairy allergens (lactose and casein). Ghee has been widely used as a key ingredient in Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Nepali and Sri-Lankan cuisine. It’s also regarded as a powerful Ayurvedic healing food.

What is Sauerkraut?

This tangy and tasty condiment is a time-honoured European side dish, widely enjoyed throughout Germany, France and Russia – although it’s thought to have originated in ancient China. Sauerkraut is made by fermenting white cabbage and juniper berries with lactobacillus bacteria; fermentation converts the natural sugars into lactic acid, which acts as a natural preservative.
