- 1 bottle Herbatint hair colour gel 60ml
- 1 bottle glycol developer 60ml
- 1 sample of either shampoo or conditioner 15ml
Herbatint is easy to mix and apply and is fragrance-free. If you have used a henna based dye in the past few months, please note that using chemical dyes over hair colored with pure plant dyes can give unexpected results, which are usually much darker color than would normally be expected, because plant dyes don't “lift” as easily. Chemical dyes may also fade faster than usual because henna makes your hair smoother and less porous so the chemical dyes won't attach as well, and often wash out with fewer shampoos. Therefore, if you are going to change the type of dye you are using please, give it a few months between the dyes. To be extra vigilant we would suggest a strand test if you are switching from henna to chemical based or visa versa.
With Herbatint, you don’t have to make a choice between style and beauty on the one hand and looking after your health and supporting green practices on the other. The colour holds for as long as conventional permanent hair dyes and the depth and range of colour is not compromised by the lack of chemicals. With its unique dyeing process & quality Ingredients, hair is left in far better condition.
Herbatint is not tested on animals and comes in biodegradable, recyclable packaging.

For your Information:
How does Herbatint penetrate the hair with colour in the absence of ammonia?
Herbatint uses plant-based alkalines, with a maximum PH level of 8.5 (ammonia is 12.5), which avoids structural damage to the hair shaft. This also means that once the colour pigments have been deposited, the hair cuticle can be completely re-closed, resulting in better hair condition and far less colour fade. The addition of Aloe Vera assists with the transfer of colour. Are Phenylenediamines (PPDs) present in Herbatint?
Like all permanent hair colour products Herbatint does contain PPDs, the colour pigments used to alter your hair's natural shade. Though the research is not conclusive, it has been suggested that PPDs are potentially harmful. Herbatint contains the minimum possible levels – 0.8 – 0.9% in most of the colours, with a maximum of 2.1% in the darkest colour. Current European legislation allows for PPD’s to comprise up to 6% of the constituents of hair dyes. Herbatint also contains numerous vegetal extracts to reduce the impact of PPD’s. However, we recommend that pregnant ladies and people undergoing chemotherapy treatment do not use any permanent hairdye.I have had allergic reactions to hairdyes in the past; will I react to Herbatint?
Most people who have reacted in the past do not react to Herbatint, as the formula does not contain many of the potential irritants normally used in hair dyes, and much lower levels of those that may cause irritation. Herbatint also contains Aloe Barbadensis, which is an effective anti-inflammatory and anti-irritant. However, there are a small number of people with allergic reactions to all kinds of substances and we strongly advise performing a skin test prior to tinting your hair.Which herbal extracts are included in Herbatint?
Herbal extracts include Aloe Vera, which is rich in vitamins, enzymes, Panthenol and natural minerals to protect and nourish the hair while colouring; Meadowfoam, rich in vitamins E and F, ensures better colour cover and longer lasting results; Witch Hazel is rich in essential oils and treats the scalp, Betula Alba (White Birch) is an effective hair tonic and Echinacea hydrates the hair. How often should I colour my hair?
With permanent colour, we suggest colouring re-growth when it becomes noticeable (usually after 5 weeks). Can I colour my hair after a perm?
Yes, with Herbatint you can, but use a shade lighter than you want (permed hair is more porous) and leave it on for only 10 – 15 minutes, unless you are covering grey, in which case leave it on for 30 – 40 minutes.Does Herbatint work on bleached hair?
Yes, but remember to mix a gold shade with a natural if your target shade is 6N or above. 5N and below must be mixed with gold/copper on bleached hair. Will Herbatint cover my grey?
Herbatint covers grey 100% on its first application, however, if you are more than 20% grey and you are opting for one of our fashion shades (Golden, Mahogany, Copper or Ash), we highly recommend that it is mixed with the appropriate natural tone. Natural colours are indicated with a letter N, from Black 1N to Platinum 10N. To cover mostly grey hair for example, 20ml of 4R Copper (the chosen colour) should be mixed with 40ml of 4N Chestnut (the corresponding numbered natural shade) and combined with 60ml of Glycol developer. Accordingly, if 20ml of 7R Copper Blonde is chosen, you would then mix this with 40ml of 7N Blonde and combine with 60ml of Glycol developer.
The higher the percentage of Grey that needs to be covered the greater the proportion of Natural colour that needs to be included.Which conditioner should I use after colouring my hair?
Herbatint works continuously to develop newer, even more gentle hair products. Included with this product is a sample of Herbatint Moringa Repair Conditioner. This nourish and repair conditioner is 99.8% natural and can be used as an alternative to the Royal Cream Conditioner in the box post colour application to reseal the hair cuticles and restore natural balance. Without parabens, silicones, imidazolidinyl urea and SLS.

Works extremely well and covers grey totally.17/11/2021, By ChandraThis product is really fantastic especially if you want to go the natural route or if you have allergies to chemical products. So easy to use!13/07/2021, By YolandeLove the colour and so much better to know it is free of harmful chemicals. Hair feels silky smooth and vibrant colour. Not using their shampoo sachet though. This caused my hair to be a bit frizzy. Covers my grey really well.06/06/2021, By CindyGrateful that you guys added this to the site despite controversy. I wish it covered greys better but it's as good as it gets for natural hair dye without henna.27/05/2021, By KatieCovers grey hairs very well and does not burn my scalp like other products used to.20/03/2021, By LivI always want to like Herbatint because I really love that they offer a product with low PPD. I also appreciate that they are available on FTN. However, I find their color chart to be challenging – I can't seem to ever get it right (too dark most of the time). Covering greys is also only semi-effective. I.e. it fades out quickly. I'll continue to use it, but also continue to wish there was something that did better with greys.29/11/2020, By AnnHerbatint has been going for over 50 years I believe, and it's cruelty-free too. Use %N with 4N if you want to cover grey.07/10/2020, By NinaBeautiful dark brown colour with a few natural lighter tones. I normally have my hair coloured in the salon so I was extremely happy about the result. I have quite a sensitive scalp and this product hasn’t irritated it at all.21/08/2020, By LouiseCovers grey perfectly! I have a sensitive skalp and this does not burn when applied. Very happy with herbatint ????20/06/2020, By ButterflyFabulous product, never fails to please. Can be used for root touch ups...I have been using this product for over a decade and would recommend it to anyone who is going grey.10/06/2020, By MimI am super impressed with this product!! 10 out of 10. When applying there was zero chemical smell - I have very sensitive eyes and they didn't tear/sting once. The colour came out a little darker than expected but I'm loving it.
Huge thumbs up from me :-)09/04/2020, By AnnIf used by itself this shade does not cover my grey hair well, so I mix this with 4N - then it does the job perfectly. Have used Herbatint for years now without an allergic reaction. Very pleased with product.22/09/2019, By NicoleThis is the 3rd or 4th time buying this hair colour. I love it! So easy to apply, doesnt stain your skin, nice natural colour that lasts long enough to make it worthwhile but washes out evenly so that you dont end up with a horrible line of regrowth. I find I have to recolour every 2 to 3 months. Covers grays beautifully. Love love love this product!03/09/2019, By CariI will never use any other hair colour in ever.
Really easy to use and the colour comes out natural and it covers greys really well. My hair feels soft and silky.31/05/2019, By CindyI'm so so impressed with Herbatint! 4 weeks later the colour still lasts (I'm only starting to see a few greys, probably just regrowth) and it didn't damage my hair at all. It's super easy to apply and doesn't have the strong chemical smell most tints do. Highly recommend it.15/04/2019, By RobynGreat product, love herbatint! My first time trying this colour. Mixed with 4D and turned out good! Was darker than expected. Will mix with 5D next time!13/02/2019, By AndreaI have been using this product for about 15 years. It is great for covering grey hair and doesn't fade. The colour comes out slightly darker than it looks on the box. It also doesn't have that strong chemical smell you get with other products. My hair is shoulder length & I manage to get the roots dyed with half a bottle so it works out affordable in that I get 2 dyes out of 1 box.28/10/2018, By AndriMy hairdresser helped me to colour my hair. Both of us were pleasantly surprised! She was amazed at the outcome. All the grey was covered and the shine is out of this world! My hair is fine and up to the middle of my back. We used one box only. Wish we could get the shampoo and conditioner seperately. It's amazing!24/09/2018, By IlseI love the Herbatint hair colours. I use this one with the 5C light ash and it gives me the perfect, natural colour. Very good price when you compare it to the average hair dresser. And way less chemicals!!02/08/2018, By GabriellaThis product is great! It mixes easily into a gel making it easy to apply. The colour lasts as well which is great because I was coloring my hair every 4 weeks to keep on top of the grey. I coloured my hair professionally for 10 years and will never go back to that again. As for this particular colour... It's not my favourite so I'll be trying a different one next. It does come out a little darker than expected but within a few days it settles into the lighter tone.01/10/2017, By NickyLove this product! Easy to use, and lasts a lot longer than the commercially available hair colourants. Best of all? It is cruelty-free, vegan, has no harsh chemicals and genuinely covers greys. What’s not to love?30/08/2017, By AnneI love the Herbatint Hair colour products! The colour does not burn my scalp like other chemical hair dye that hairdressers often use. I mixed this colour with the 5R. Nice colour but a little bit darker than I thought it would be, so next time I will order the 6N and 6R. My hair looked healthy and shiny after I coloured it. Will keep using this brand!
