Simply Bee is a family-owned South African business based in the town of Hopefield. Beekeeper Derick Hugo and his family have grown their hobby into a much-loved local brand, bringing you a range of natural beeswax, honey and propolis products formulated to care for your body and your home. The Simply Bee brand, founded in 2011, is committed to creating products of excellent quality, and supporting local suppliers. The company believes in keeping their products as pure as possible, with all-natural ingredients and minimal processing. Their beeswax products are free of petroleum compounds and preservatives, and have not undergone any distillation, condensation, hydrolysis or pressure cooking.

At Simply Bee our mission is to not only cultivate awareness of the benefits of using natural beeswax products but to also aid in bee conservation. Our beehives, it began with our father, who provided us with the foundation to not only create these products but to also continue a family legacy. Simply Bee’s products offer all natural handmade products, free from harmful chemicals and synthetic fragrances. Making it safe and environmentally friendly. Helena, the owner, being allergic to most cosmetics with synthetic ingredients and harsh preservatives, has done much research, trials and studying of the bees and their products. This led to the beginning of Simply Bee, a range of natural, organic products for both the body and the home. Simply Bee is situated in the oldest town of the West Coast, Hopefield. We are 22 women and 3 men strong.

Responsible

Our bees forage around Hopefield, where no commercial farming is in the immediate vicinity, from over 600 different indigenous Fynbos species. Our bees are not used for commercial pollination and do not get exposed to these chemicals. Therefore, our honey, beeswax and propolis are all 100% organic, badger-friendly and we NEVER harvest royal jelly or pollen.

Eco Friendly and Local

We strive to support our local suppliers, so our carrier and essential oil ingredients are bought from reputable local companies. As of 1 July 2020 our packaging will all be in either glass or PET containers, at Simply Bee we strive to support eco friendly packaging and keep our environment safe.

Natural Ingredients

Natural ingredients are profoundly effective. They stimulate your senses, are better for the environment and beneficial to your overall well-being. Natural ingredients nurture the skin with nutrients that are familiar to the body’s chemistry, thus working in harmony with the body. We believe they must come from renewable natural resources.

Ethical Production

To Helena it is of utmost importance to control the processing of the ingredients and the manufacturing of the products. All processes, including distillation, condensation, extraction, steaming, and hydrolysis are kept to a minimum. Helena's goal is to keep natural ingredients natural, this ensures full retention of their beneficial properties.
