Top Ten Reasons to Cook with Coconut Oil

It’s time to ditch those chemical-laden hydrogenated cooking oils, and reach for the healthier alternative everyone’s talking about – coconut oil has really taken the world by storm, thanks to its amazing multi-faceted health and wellbeing benefits. It’s no wonder organic coconut oil is one of our all-time best-sellers, and in case you still need convincing, we’ve put together a list of the 10 best reasons to cook with this multi-tasking culinary wonder!

Please Note: For maximum health benefits, be sure to use extra virgin, organic coconut oil that has not undergone extensive processing, and is free of additives and preservatives.

High Smoke Point

Ordinary hydrogenated vegetable oils break down at high temperatures, releasing unhealthy trans-fats and free radicals. Virgin coconut oil on the other hand, has a much higher smoke point (180°C) than any other natural oil; that means it won’t break down and oxidise when you use it to bake or fry your meals.

Source of Healthy Fats

Coconut oil has a unique fatty acid profile, and is packed with lauric acid; an essential fatty acid found naturally in breast milk. As well as being the world’s richest plant-based source of lauric acid, coconut oil is also full of health-giving medium chain EFAs.

Immune Booster

By eating coconut oil regularly, you’ll strengthen your immune system and improve your body’s ability to ward off diseases.

Healing & Infections

Coconut oil is antiviral, antibacterial and antifungal due to its high lauric acid content.

Heart Health

Coconut oil helps to lower blood pressure levels, promoting a healthy cardiovascular system; it’s also cholesterol-neutral, helping to keep the body’s cholesterol levels in check and protect the health of your heart.

The Slimmer’s Choice

The medium chain fatty acids in coconut oil help to boost your metabolism, and increase your daily energy expenditure (by up to 5%). This allows your body to burn calories more efficiently.

Digestive Health

Coconut oil is easy to digest, and also promotes healthy thyroid and endocrine system function. This keeps the digestive system healthy, and helps to combat weight gain.

Blood Sugar

Coconut oil is suitable for diabetics, helping to control blood sugar levels and improve the secretion of insulin.

Mineral Absorption

Coconut oil improves the body’s ability to absorb minerals like calcium and magnesium, helping to keep the bones and teeth, tissues and organs strong and healthy.

More than Just a Cooking Oil

Coconut oil has also become famous for its uses as an all-natural beauty product; it can be used as a hydrating hair masque, skin moisturiser, cuticle cream, make-up remover, and even a shaving cream!

I preach Coconut oil everywhere I go. I shall never use any other oil again. I open 3 turmeric root extract capsules (1200mg) every day in 30ml organic virgin coconut oil, and then I drink about another 30ml oil later at night. Wonderful product. I use the oil that has not been deoderized!
