Are Toners Really Necessary?

Toners are probably one of the most misunderstood items on the recommended beauty routine. In the past toners would have a strong alcohol base and be used to help maintain a PH balance and remove additional dirt from your face that your cleanser was not able to – keeping your skin squeaky clean on the hand and crying for moisture on the other.

These days natural tones are actually created to be very hydrating and contain ingredients to further treat and soothe the skin. Compare your skin to a sponge – if you had to add a rich oily serum to a dry sponge not much would be absorbed. However if you misted your sponge with a lovely refreshing toner. It would absorb more of the oil, and when we say that toners prepare the skin for your moisturizer, this is what we mean.

There are different toners for every skin type and it is important that you are using the right product. Toners that will help brighten the skin contain extracts like orange and bergamot; whilst those that will help calm the skin contain chamomile.

These are our top choices for the different skin types:

For Oily and Acne Prone Skin:

Apple Cider Vinegar Toner

Bee Natural Face Toner with Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar has malic and lactic acids which help clear up acne and propolis is very anti-bacterial and thus this is a very effective formula to treat troublesome skin.

This product is amazing! I had a terrible breakout of acne because of a BB cream and since I started using this toner in combination with the Bee Natural cleansing balm, my skin cleared a lot faster. I added some Tea Tree Oil to the toner (since its very good for healing acne). 🙂 Not only is my skin free of acne now, but the skin tone is much better as well.

I just love this freshener – great to keep handy for use throughout the day, and I just it on my skin whenever it starts to feel tight or itchy. My skin is very sensitive and I struggle with redness and small dry patches and this is really helping. ” Lily
