Did You Know? As a traditional medicinal herb, Imphepho must be harvested with respect. Before entering the area where the Imphepho grows, one must always ask permission of the guardian or grandfather – which may be a very large or old tree growing nearby. Before the plant is cut, one must ask if it agrees to be medicine, and explain why it is needed.
Directions:
- Holding the smudge stick by the “handle” end & use a lighter to ignite the tip.
- Blow out any open flames so that the leaves slowly smoulder.
- Wave the smudging wand around a room, person, or objects to direct the fragrant, cleansing smoke.
- Catch the ashes in a heat-resistant dish (such as a regular plate filled with sand).
- Smudge sticks can be extinguished in a dish of sand and re-used many times.
- We have included a prayer for you should you wish to use it.

20/10/2026, By AshI absolutely LOVE Imphepho smudge sticks. I've been introduced to them in 2017 by a Shaman from Brazil during our Ayahuasca ceremony. I've been taught by the Shaman that Imphepho is the grandmother and strongest smudging of all the others. Sangomas and other tribes, etc. will typically use this specific smudge to ward off bad spirts and protect their circle, themselves. It's all up to your belief system, your intentions and why you choose to use this. Maybe you just like the smell. I've been using this smudge stick ever since. Cleansing. Healing. Protective. Balancing. Great price. Speedy delivery. Decent potent smell - be warned, if you use this in your house, it will smell like Imphepho...we typically use it outside for smudging, even smudge the dogs' paws for clearing and healing energies.
