I thought I should just write a note of caution to people with coeliac disease about beers made from barley (or wheat, etc.) that have gluten removed. Even though this beer is endorsed by the Coeliac Society (which one? the South African one?) the verdict is still not out on whether these gluten removed beers are safe for those with coeliac disease. Alessio Fassano, director of the Centre for Celiac Research and Treatment and probably the foremost expert in the field believes it is not safe. The FDA in America has also not approved the label gluten free to be used on gluten removed beers. Of course there are others that disagree, but coeliacs can really take chances with their health and should probably stick to beers made from non gluten sources, such as the Red Sky beer made from maize and sorghum. This beer is probably fine for people suffering from mild gluten intolerance or sensitivity, though.
