- Pink Himalayan salt is a type of rock salt commonly found near the foothills of the Himalayas hence its name. In cooking, Himalayan salt, like table salt is primarily used to season dishes but can also be used to preserve food. Coarse salt is great to use as an ingredient in a rub for meat or simply to sprinkle over vegetables.
- Himalayan rock salt contains trace amounts of iron oxide (rust), which gives it a pink colour. It has small amounts of calcium, iron, potassium and magnesium, making it slightly lower in sodium than regular table salt.
- Relaxing in a Himalayan salt bath has wonderful benefits. It delivers magnesium, treats eczema, acne, and psoriasis and even soothes insect bites.
