Head of Buying

As the Head of Buying and Merchandising you will be Responsible for the smooth execution of the buying function to support sales and turnover targets including supplier management.

Responsibility

  • Develop and execute a Buying strategy in line with the business strategy to achieve growth and financial profitability
  • To manage the business probability with finance to optimise through product categories
  • Responsible for delivering on all KPI’s including but not limited to sales and stock targets
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to effectively drive delivery
  • Implement new pricing strategies and KPI product positioning
  • Work closely with the Finance Manager and CEO to review financial plans
  • Identify opportunities and implement necessary measures to achieve financial targets
  • Strategically identify opportunities to drive our product basket towards a more inclusive and “one stop shop”
  • Manage supplier and supplier relationship to drive partnership that are beneficial for both parties
  • Drive, oversee and strengthen supplier relationships to improve results
  • Manage and own the Buying budget
  • Conduct regular competitor analysis to evaluate the businesses product offering
  • Work closely with product development to identify long term private label development
  • Keep abreast with global and local market trends and customer behaviour to identify new product opportunities
  • Critically evaluate the product offering to ensure customer needs are met and profitability is increased
  • Work closely with the Head of Marketing to align on key promotional lines and on daily operational product mailers
  • Manage the buying team that consists of 8 team members
  • Continuously look for opportunities to improve departmental efficiencies and ways of working

Requirements

  • Proven working experience as a Buying or Merchandising Manager
  • BS degree in supply chain management, logistics or business administration
  • Natural and Organic industry experience.
  • A knack for negotiation and networking
  • Ability to gather and analyse data and to work with figures
  • Solid judgement along with decision making skills
  • Strong leadership capabilities
  • Working in the E-commerce space will be an advantage

In this role you will develop the brand through specific growth objectives and play a key role in supporting the development of the overall marketing strategy. You will be expected to drive the growth of the brand through excellent marketing execution along with the Marketing Manager.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • BSc/BA in business administration, marketing, communications or relevant field
  • 5 years experience in a leading blue-chip consumer FMCG, finance or similar brand-driven business, with experience in retail, ecommerce or a start-up environment very beneficial
  • Proven experience in brand management and brand building as a Marketing Manager or Brand Manager
  • Experience in leading multiple creative and PR agencies, as well as getting hands-on in executing campaigns
  • Demonstrable experience in developing efficient strategies and business plans for all marketing aspects (branding, product promotion etc.)
  • Very numeric with a solid understanding of market research and data analysis methods
  • Proficient in MS Office

Faithful to Nature is in need of an entrepreneurial, driven Accountant to assist the Financial Manager with managing the accounting tasks, including all bookkeeping and payroll. The successful candidate will also ensure the smooth financial operations of the organisation.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all accounting and financial administration for the group’s distributor.
  • Will support the financial manager on financial accounting, reconciliations and financial administration of the main online retail business.
  • Monthly management accounts preparation and reporting for both online retailer and distributor.
  • Cash management including preparation of bank reconciliations, and overseeing the Cashbook Clerk.
  • Management of Creditors Clerk who prepares supplier reconciliations.
  • Payments administration, including preparation of daily/weekly payments for release by FM.
  • SARS administration including VAT, PAYE and UIF.
  • Budgeting and forecasting for annual and quarterly reporting to shareholders.
  • Cash flow management and forecasting.
  • Record retention.
  • External audit facilitation.

Requirements

  • Finance degree or diploma.
  • 3+ years of working experience within the Accounting and Finance function, physically performing accounting activities (Reconciliations, journal entries, data uploads and matching).
  • Working experience within retail or wholesale preferred.
  • Experience managing people.
  • Comprehensive understanding of financial process, daily finance tasks, reconciliations and accounting entries.
  • Proficiency with SARS filings and basic tax administration – VAT, Income Tax.
  • Payroll administration.
  • Good understanding of off-the-shelf accounting packages.
  • Good verbal and electronic communication skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and be able to multi task.
  • Must have experience in processing transactions from origin to book, and thus a good understanding of generally accepted accounting practice and IFRS.
