Elgin ridge wines come from high up on the slopes of the fertile lands of the Elgin Valley, Western Cape where the first vineyards were planted on fallow lands to start their wine making off on the right foot, with no pesticides. The unique terroir produces superb wines and a quality of grape that needs minimal intervention in the cellar, which was exactly what they wanted as Elgin Ridge wines are Ecocert certified organic, using natural farming methods to ensure you get a glass of pesticide-free nectar-of-the-vine that truly reflects the character of the land.
Elgin Ridge is situated 282 meters above sea level on pristine land where they practise organic biodynamic methods, recycling their organic waste and creating their own compost, nourishing their wines with truly natural care from start to finish. They have a flock of ducks that are specially born and bred on the farm and then trained to eat pests, and the weeds are taken care of with the help of their horse Maddox and grazing cows who also contribute manure for the land. Cold winters, warm summers and the Atlantic breeze ensure perfectly balanced wines that are in harmony with your palate, your celebration of life, and nature too.
