Talborne Organics was founded by Mike and Jenny Slabber. As exporters and entrepreneurs, we were alerted to an interesting opportunity by an enquiry from Germany for the supply of organic fertilizers. We grew up on farms in South Africa, and with our combined experience in the retail food and animal feed industry, we realized that conservation farming practises and using organic methods would be the answer to the sustainable production of healthy food and a healthy environment for the rapidly growing world population. So in the early 1990s, we began to investigate the production of organic fertilizers as natural alternatives to synthetic fertilizers, particularly as European laws were restricting the use of synthetic agrochemicals due to environmental pollution and degradation of vital ecosystems such as soil, water and air. We are fortunate to be involved in this dynamic growth sector where the healthy and environmentally conscious consumer demands safe and sustainable quality products.
