Stegi EcoNappy
Stegi EcoNappies is Rene Stegmann’s brainchild. When Rene gave birth to her first baby boy, Callum, she investigated the local and overseas market for a healthier alternative to synthetic disposable nappies because she had heard the scare stories about the potential side-affects and chemicals used in these products. She found the overseas shaped cotton nappies rather expensive for the South African pocket, and not very convenient to buy. Rene then spent a year finding local suppliers to produce shaped cotton nappies and associated products, to the desired level of quality. After piloting the product over 6 months, the products have been refined and improved, and were launched to the South African market on a national level in June 2005.
