Jacques Barben has been a beekeeper since mid 2012, started selling beekeeping equipment in Cape Town, and eventually in 2016 started Barben Bees. As of 2018 Jacques and Janet Barben are passionate and professional commercial beekeepers. Hoerikwaggo Honey is one of their babies; Hoerikwaggo being the Khoisan name for Table Mountain. Jacques has lived on the slopes of Table Mountain his entire life and often came across bees collecting nectar from the local fynbos. When he started keeping bees he decided he wanted to use some of his heritage in his brand, and so Hoerikwaggo Honey was created. The honey is not heated, not filtered and has no additives.
