Being in a paper packet you do need to check the packaging for little holes as I have had live passengers on a few occasions - worms - but that has only been a few times in the seven years I have been buying. I usually check it as soon as I get home so that I know it's okay and then put the paper bag into a reusable plastic bag to protect it.
