- 1 bottle Herbatint hair colour gel 60ml
- 1 bottle glycol developer 60ml
- 1 sample of either shampoo or conditioner 15ml
Herbatint is easy to mix and apply and is fragrance-free. If you have used a henna based dye in the past few months, please note that using chemical dyes over hair colored with pure plant dyes can give unexpected results, which are usually much darker color than would normally be expected, because plant dyes don't “lift” as easily. Chemical dyes may also fade faster than usual because henna makes your hair smoother and less porous so the chemical dyes won't attach as well, and often wash out with fewer shampoos. Therefore, if you are going to change the type of dye you are using please, give it a few months between the dyes. To be extra vigilant we would suggest a strand test if you are switching from henna to chemical based or visa versa.
With Herbatint, you don’t have to make a choice between style and beauty on the one hand and looking after your health and supporting green practices on the other. The colour holds for as long as conventional permanent hair dyes and the depth and range of colour is not compromised by the lack of chemicals. With its unique dyeing process & quality Ingredients, hair is left in far better condition.
Herbatint is not tested on animals and comes in biodegradable, recyclable packaging.

For your Information:
How does Herbatint penetrate the hair with colour in the absence of ammonia?
Herbatint uses plant-based alkalines, with a maximum PH level of 8.5 (ammonia is 12.5), which avoids structural damage to the hair shaft. This also means that once the colour pigments have been deposited, the hair cuticle can be completely re-closed, resulting in better hair condition and far less colour fade. The addition of Aloe Vera assists with the transfer of colour. Are Phenylenediamines (PPDs) present in Herbatint?
Like all permanent hair colour products Herbatint does contain PPDs, the colour pigments used to alter your hair's natural shade. Though the research is not conclusive, it has been suggested that PPDs are potentially harmful. Herbatint contains the minimum possible levels – 0.8 – 0.9% in most of the colours, with a maximum of 2.1% in the darkest colour. Current European legislation allows for PPD’s to comprise up to 6% of the constituents of hair dyes. Herbatint also contains numerous vegetal extracts to reduce the impact of PPD’s. However, we recommend that pregnant ladies and people undergoing chemotherapy treatment do not use any permanent hairdye.I have had allergic reactions to hairdyes in the past; will I react to Herbatint?
Most people who have reacted in the past do not react to Herbatint, as the formula does not contain many of the potential irritants normally used in hair dyes, and much lower levels of those that may cause irritation. Herbatint also contains Aloe Barbadensis, which is an effective anti-inflammatory and anti-irritant. However, there are a small number of people with allergic reactions to all kinds of substances and we strongly advise performing a skin test prior to tinting your hair.Which herbal extracts are included in Herbatint?
Herbal extracts include Aloe Vera, which is rich in vitamins, enzymes, Panthenol and natural minerals to protect and nourish the hair while colouring; Meadowfoam, rich in vitamins E and F, ensures better colour cover and longer lasting results; Witch Hazel is rich in essential oils and treats the scalp, Betula Alba (White Birch) is an effective hair tonic and Echinacea hydrates the hair. How often should I colour my hair?
With permanent colour, we suggest colouring re-growth when it becomes noticeable (usually after 5 weeks). Can I colour my hair after a perm?
Yes, with Herbatint you can, but use a shade lighter than you want (permed hair is more porous) and leave it on for only 10 – 15 minutes, unless you are covering grey, in which case leave it on for 30 – 40 minutes.Does Herbatint work on bleached hair?
Yes, but remember to mix a gold shade with a natural if your target shade is 6N or above. 5N and below must be mixed with gold/copper on bleached hair. Will Herbatint cover my grey?
Herbatint covers grey 100% on its first application, however, if you are more than 20% grey and you are opting for one of our fashion shades (Golden, Mahogany, Copper or Ash), we highly recommend that it is mixed with the appropriate natural tone. Natural colours are indicated with a letter N, from Black 1N to Platinum 10N. To cover mostly grey hair for example, 20ml of 4R Copper (the chosen colour) should be mixed with 40ml of 4N Chestnut (the corresponding numbered natural shade) and combined with 60ml of Glycol developer. Accordingly, if 20ml of 7R Copper Blonde is chosen, you would then mix this with 40ml of 7N Blonde and combine with 60ml of Glycol developer.
The higher the percentage of Grey that needs to be covered the greater the proportion of Natural colour that needs to be included.Which conditioner should I use after colouring my hair?
Herbatint works continuously to develop newer, even more gentle hair products. Included with this product is a sample of Herbatint Moringa Repair Conditioner. This nourish and repair conditioner is 99.8% natural and can be used as an alternative to the Royal Cream Conditioner in the box post colour application to reseal the hair cuticles and restore natural balance. Without parabens, silicones, imidazolidinyl urea and SLS.

I wash every 3rd day and it washes out so quick. It's the second time I bought this, hoping it will last longer with the 2nd application, but no luck.06/07/2020, By AnujahThe colour is much darker on my hair but it lasts well. My hair felt stripped and course after using the dye. I will not purchase it again.16/06/2020, By AnniJust ordered this for my mom since she is allergic to normal dyes. I have noticed my hair is very dry now though. I would still recommend, because of the reduced toxins in this product, but thought I should mention it.19/04/2020, By Miancalovely colour. I got this just before lockdown and it looks so good! the color is easy to apply and lasts long09/04/2020, By AnnOne of about 2 hair colourants that I'm NOT allergic to and this one covers my grey hair very well. Have used Herbatint for years now, great product. Love that it comes in bottles - can mix shades without wasting product.08/04/2020, By YolandeI have been using Herbatint for the last year, and have found it to be a great product. The main reason for trying this product is that it is cruelty free and doesn't contain animal ingredients. I like the ease of application, the fact that it does not have the awful smell that most hair dyes usually have, and that it leaves my hair in pretty decent condition. In fact, I had decided to get the salon to dye my hair 2 months ago, and my hair had felt even more dry and damaged, which I put down to all the dyeing, however ever since I coloured my hair using Herbatint a week ago, the condition feels so much better! :) I would definitely recommend this product.12/01/2020, By RochelleAmazing product. I've used many different hair dyes in the past but this one is by far the best. I love that it leaves my hair shiny and soft after using it.22/10/2019, By NazGreat product, that eases my conscience a bit about my vanity :) Easy to use and though it does not last as long as regular hair dye, left my hair soft and manageable. Definitely my go to product going forward.01/10/2019, By LindaColour was perfect, application was easier than I expected and hair was left looking healthy. It's the first time I attempted colouring my hair at home.13/09/2019, By NinaLove this product, works well on gray hair and less harmful to hair than normal hair colorant.07/05/2019, By NinaI used it yesterday for the first time and I'm SO surprised with the result! My grays were completely covered and despite the fact that it was the first time I've ever coloured my hair at home (usually i do it in a salon so I have zero experience at doing it myself), the colour came up so even. My hair was quite dry after rinsing off the dye, but after applying the conditioner supplied in the box it regained softness. I'm so impressed with this amazing product. It will save me thousands of rands in salon treatments. One box is enough for 2 applications on my short hair.12/03/2019, By BIANCAThis product is just as effective as "normal" store bought hair colour product. And the colour also lasts supprisingly03/03/2019, By RobynI have used this a few times now and extremely happy with the results. Have just tried mixing golden chestnut with the 4N and definitely works better for me. Will continue using!15/02/2019, By Nutan KExtremely satisfied with the product. No hair loss experienced. Color stays in longer and more intense.17/01/2019, By CynThis hair dye is free from all harmful chemicals and I get full grey coverage.23/10/2018, By BronI see you can also mix this product with the corresponding fashion shade if you don't have much grey. I'll definitely try that next time round.22/06/2018, By AshleighLove this product. I did read reviews saying that the colour develops on the darker side, however I didn't find this to be the case. The colour on the box is quite accurate. Also great that you don't have to use it all at once and it can be used for a number of retouches.23/04/2018, By AngLove this product. Fantastic grey coverage. It leaves your hair in a wonderful condition and super shiny. Convenient that you can use half the colour at a time should you only want a touch up, so works out to be quite economical26/11/2017, By TessI bought this for my elderly mother as she can't tolerate any salon colours as she is so sensitive. It applied perfectly and didn't irritate her skin or eyes at all. She looks lovely, 10 years younger. A dark rich colour that covered the grey perfectly.14/10/2016, By SimoneI was a little concerned about the colour choice when purchasing herbatint but the result was good. Chestnut is a little misleading as I would say this was more of a dark brown. I expected Chestnut to be a slightly more medium red brown shade - although based on the image on the box the didnt appear to be the case. I was happy with the result, it covered my minimal grey very well. The product was fairly easy to apply - although i would recommend buying your own squeezy plastic bottle with a funnel lid for easy application as you would normally find in box dyes. Applying from a bowl is a little more challenging. I must say my hair felt extremely dry after rinsing the product off but after washing and adding the conditioner it was ok.
