**Please Note: Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate is one of the ingredients that we’re watching closely. This is what we know about it – to use it or not to use is your call.
Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate is approved by ECOCERT, and is also approved in the new COSMOS organic standard.
The ingredient is sulphate-free, it is not processed with ethylene oxide or 1,4dioxane, and has a good sensitivity rating.
The Cosmetics Database finds Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate to be a moderate hazard ingredient, primarily because of its potential to be contaminated with nitrosamine (a known carcinogen) and because of its classification as a penetration enhancer.
Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate should not be used in cosmetics and personal care products in which N-nitroso compounds may be formed (CosmeticsInfo.org).
Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate is not expected to be potentially toxic or harmful, and has a low oral toxicity. It is not found to be mutagenic, irritating or sensitizing, although it may enhance the penetration of other ingredients through the skin which is a good or a bad thing depending on what other ingredients it is mixed with.
It has an EWG rating – the rating is 3/10, primarily due to data gaps.
5 out of 5 people would recommend this product16/03/2018, By JoyceI started my baby on this toothpaste when he was only a few months old. Now that he's a toddler, he loves this toothpaste. I think he enjoys the berry flavor because I always make mixed berries smoothies for him. Sometimes I catch him in the toilet eating toothpaste right out of the tube. Lol.10/01/2018, By TebogoMy 2 year old loves this. We've tried other fluoride-free natural toothpastes, but this is the only one my son has approved.09/01/2018, By LindieIt says 0- 3 years of age, this container is so big it might just last until then!
