Vitamin K is an essential nutrient that supports strong bones and a healthy vascular system. It helps to ward off heart problems, osteoporosis and calcified arteries, plus it helps with healthy blood clotting. You’ll find vitamin K in your favourite leafy green vegetables – think broccoli, spinach and lettuce – but sometimes it helps to supplement your intake and give your body a vitamin boost. These convenient, vegan-friendly Vitamin K1 supplement capsules from Viridian are easy for your body to absorb and use, giving you just what you need to keep your bones strong and your arteries healthy.

Vitamin K is great for athletes and those with an active lifestyle, as it helps with:

  • Bone health & density: Vitamin K helps to maintain your body’s levels of the calcium-binding proteins known as osteocalcin and MGP. Studies have also shown that vitamin K can reduce the severity of bone fractures, and can even protect you from the onset of osteoporosis.
  • Blood clotting: Vitamin K plays an important role in the proper clotting of the blood, by helping to manufacture essential clotting factors like prothrombin.
  • Heart health: Vitamin K prevents calcium deposits from forming on your artery walls, which can lead to hypertension and heart failure. By keeping your veins and arteries elastic and healthy, vitamin K protects your heart.

Please Note: There are 2 main forms of vitamin K, namely K1 (Phylloquinone) and K2 (Phytonadione). K1 is naturally found in leafy greens, while K2 is found in fermented foods. Your body also has a natural ability to convert vitamin K1 to K2.

All vitamin K2 supplements currently available have been subjected to some form of animal testing. For this reason, ethical companies like Viridian only use K1 and adjust levels to meet your supplemental needs.

Dosage: 2 capsules daily.

Tip: Use along with vitamin D, calcium and magnesium supplements for optimal bone health.

No known contraindications at suggested dose. However, levels over 45ug/day (threshold dose) may counteract the anticoagulant actions of drugs such as Warfarin, which work to prevent clot formation by blocking vitamin K’s activation of prothrombin. Aspirin, certain antibiotics and possibly high doses of vitamin E also antagonise the action of vitamin K.

One vegetarian capsule provides:
Vitamin K1 (Phylloquinone) 50ugIn a base of alfalfa, spirulina & bilberry.

Vitamin K is a great supplement for bone health and preventing osteoporosis, especially when taken with Vitamin C, D and Magnesium. I choose the Viridian Vit K because it's vegan and not tested on animals.
