Michael Hines’ fascination with natural organic remedies began as a child – he has fond memories of his grandmother ministering to his illnesses with herbs she gathered herself. He created Tropic Isle Living in 1992 with his wife and business partner with the vision of establishing a wellness and beauty company with its roots in the vibrant traditional Jamaican culture, honouring its heritage and the all-natural remedies used for hundreds of years going all the way back to Africa. Since 1992 they have been making natural hair, skin and body care products from oils, herbs and berries from Jamaica, the Caribbean and Africa.

Tropic Isle Living don’t mass produce their products and they predominantly use traditionally hand-processed ingredients. They believe that this preserves the power and magnetism of their products and honours the heritage and knowledge gifted them by their ancestors. Jamaican Black Castor Oil has enjoyed an amazing revival and Tropical Isle was 17 years ahead of the pack in using organic and wild crafted Black Castor Seed Oil on its own and as a key ingredient in many of their products due to its many amazing health and beauty properties.
