The handle is made of MOS bamboo, an environmentally sustainable timber. Bamboo is technically considered a member of the grass family. It is the fastest growing plant on earth, and incredibly abundant. The bamboo is cultivated for between three to five years, and then harvested. It re-generates itself naturally, with minimal rain and without the need for harmful pesticides. In fact, by harvesting and using the bamboo, we help to control unwanted spread into agricultural and natural forest areas. The bamboo is grown by many local farmers (NOT PLANTATION).
The bamboo is heat treated to carbonise the surface of the bamboo, giving it a quality finish and good service life. The carbonisation finishing process provides water resistance and prevents the growth of microbes (bacteria and moulds) during normal use.
The bristles are made from a polymer resistant to microbial growth during normal use, to ensure safety and durability.
We recommend you rinse and dry your toothbrush after use to keep it clean.
Disposing of your toothbrush
For best results, most dentist's recommend you replace your toothbrush either monthly or at least every quarter some even say use it until it stops.
To answer the main question, HOW LONG DOES IT LAST? - We test drove a toothbrush for over 8 months so yes they last (not that we suggest you do that).
The Environmental Toothbrush can be disposed of safely by returning it to earth in compost or landfill. Both the bamboo and bristles will biodegrade into soil, without pollution.
China’s Giant Panda consumes the soft bamboo shoots, stems and leaves as its main food source. The Environmental Toothbrush honours this environmental mascot in the logo. Because bamboo is so abundant, sustainable and renewable our use does not impact on the food source of the Giant Panda in fact they do not like the MOSO bamboo.
39 out of 44 people would recommend this product16/08/2018, By RiekelsI love the toothbrush and it actually looks much better than normal toothbrushes. The brush part is a bit hard but the fact that I now have an eco-friendly toothbrush makes up for it. Thanks for the great service!!!14/08/2018, By DeborahI've been using this toothbrush for about a week, so far enjoying it. Took one or two uses to get used to how different it feels to a plastic toothbrush, but it feels normal now and it's definitely doing the job. Feels good to not be using plastic, and this is a very easy substitute.12/08/2018, By AbigailThe bristles on this are very hard and unusuable for my (sensitive) mouth. I bought this years ago and ended up using for all sorts of other things and it is still kicking.03/08/2018, By ClaraThis toothbrush is so hard, I feel like I am scrubbing my gums off when I brush. I was really not happy with this buy, but I suppose it boils down to preference. My husband is happy with his, although I feel they should label it hard and not medium.25/07/2018, By WhitneyMy teeth have never felt cleaner. I'll never use any other toothbrush! Definitely recommended!24/07/2018, By JessWay better than my previous locally bought eco friendly brush. Medium strength is just perfect12/07/2018, By PhoenixI was so excited for the arrival of this toothbrush and more importantly taking the shift toward a planet-conscious alternative. Woohoo!!
Personal preference; the bristles on this are WAY too hard for me to even comprehend using the brush on my teeth. I've felt softer foot scrubbers in my life ;D Will definitely opt for the soft bristled option once I save up for another order.
Also think that the price is a bit of a push for such a simple product, but am happy to pay it until the plastic-free movement is better supported and readily available with more variety.
Still believe this is an important transition but will take me a while to repurchase the right bristles for me as a student.11/07/2018, By MichelleI purchased one ages ago, and the quality is very impressive. I'm purchasing more of the same for my entire family :)05/07/2018, By clintonA decent toothbrush; basic, no frills and gimmicks. I do find the medium a bit soft and the handle can tend to get a bit moldy towards the end of the 3 months. I have been using this brand of toothbrush for 18 months and have just bought in bulk again22/06/2018, By AshleighGood toothbrush. Wonderful that it is biodegradable.05/06/2018, By MoniqueGreat value for money! I love that the entire toothbrush is biodegradeble and not just the handle. One toothbrush lasts about 3 months, as it should. And it's much more affordable that I expected an eco-friendly toothbrush to be. Will definitely be ordering in bulk once this item is back in stock.21/05/2018, By LindsGreat toothbrush. Will definitely order again.20/05/2018, By EnsSo happy with this purchase. A sturdy toothbrush that feels great!16/05/2018, By ElmonixI love this bamboo toothbrush, and have already recommended it to countless friends!14/05/2018, By Jessicalove it10/05/2018, By GiuliaI love it, eve though I would like slightly softer bristles.06/05/2018, By CassandraSoft on the teeth and works perfectly. Would recommend.26/04/2018, By taralove it.16/04/2018, By JemmaLove my toothbrush, it's perfect! There's no reason to buy a plastic toothbrush anymore14/04/2018, By JanaVery good and feels the same as conventional toothbrushes so easy swap!12/04/2018, By RitaI am now placing our third order for these toothbrushes and I can honestly say it is the BEST! We'll never use any other toothbrush ever again.
I've never smiled when a toothbrush was worn and torn to the point where I had to get a new one and now I do. I can compost these and not feel guilty for having to buy a new toothbrush.
The bristles are fantastic and might I say they look much prettier in the bathroom than pink and blue plastic (shudder).31/03/2018, By ZonelleThese are awesome, totally worth using it.23/03/2018, By StephI love the concept and the bristles are just the right texture.22/03/2018, By Healthy Girlawesome16/03/2018, By BevinnThe wooden feel took a bit of getting use to, but otherwise great to use. The only downside is that my husband and I can't tell our toothbrushes apart!07/03/2018, By CourtneyThis is my favourite toothbrush! I have been religiously using them for 3 years now and don't see that changing anytime soon!05/03/2018, By KayReally great toothbrush, and can be used to mark pot plants when you done with it17/02/2018, By ChristieGood toothbrush and am so glad to be able to reduce my plastic usage, basic design but what more do you need really? Just be aware that the bristles are plastic so you need to remove them before composting06/02/2018, By jessGreat Product and great design, would recommend it over other environmental toothbrushes mostly because they don't package their products in wasteful plastics. Sadly, I have read some reviews: that say the bristles aren't biodegradable. My Plastic Free Life does an excellent review on these products: https://myplasticfreelife.com/2015/12/the-truth-about-your-biodegradable-bamboo-toothbrush/
and wastelandrebel is there to back her up:
hopefully someday they will all be completely biodegradable
xx05/02/2018, By LynIts great. Its basic in design for sure, but I think it does an absolutely excellent cleaning job and for me, the medium bristles, are the perfect hard to soft ratio. I will never go back to my old toothbrushes. Am 100% satisfied and would advise everyone at least gives this product a try.05/02/2018, By MelissaLast's super long and gives a decent brush. Would be great to add a feature to tell them apart when the whole family is using them.31/01/2018, By DanielWorks well enough but the brush-head's design needs work. It's a bit oversized relative to the bristles so it's difficult to manoeuvre around the back of the mouth.18/01/2018, By TandyIt works just as good as a normal toothbrush and at the same time you help save the planet, great product04/01/2018, By BronLove that the entire toothbrush is biodegradeble and bristles have softened after a few weeks of use (bought the medium strength)
Cons: handle is a bit short, bristle design could be improved27/12/2017, By LuciI wish I could recommend this as I so believe in using biodegradables and was so keen I bought 6! But ... and I would rather be giving this feedback to the manufacturer. The design is completely unsophisticated. The shape is like the first toothbrush ever made, and is akin to the cheapest nastiest version on the shelves today. A few small innovations could have made this so good!24/12/2017, By AstridI feel like such a good person when using this and I now look my friends up and down when I see them using plastic toothbrushes.22/12/2017, By Traceylooks amazing and works well21/12/2017, By HeleenAmazing!!! I absolutely love these toothbrushes. They lasts surprisingly long and once you need to get a new one, you just pop this one in the garden.09/12/2017, By KarenGreat product!!!30/11/2017, By JesThe handle is sturdy, easy to hold and super smooth (no fear of splinters getting in my palm). Having come from a super-soft bristle toothbrush (plastic!!!), the transition to medium bristles has been a slight process, but (because of the stronger bristles) my teeth are cleaning with such ease, now! Next, I'll buy the soft bristled version of this brush. There's no way I'm going back to plastic. This toothbrush is fantastic.30/11/2017, By luciGreat tooth brush! Bristles last and my husband also converted after I bought one.29/11/2017, By NikkiI think this isa great, good looking toothbrush that does the job and helps give the environment a break. I am a convert - no more plastic. The only thing is if the whole family is using them - they all look the same.....29/11/2017, By AmberI love this toothbrush. Better for the environment and cleans well. Unfortunately occasionally I do get one where all the bristles come out, but in general its worth the buy28/11/2017, By NicolaGreat environmentally friendly option, have been using mine for a few months and it is awesome!
