With a SOW Delicious slab of seed, you can sow, grow and harvest your very own crop of exotic beetroot. Candy cane beetroot, also known as Chioggia, gets its name from the deep pink and white spirals you’ll find when you slice it open. Golden Detroit beetroot has orange roots which turn golden yellow when cooked. Both of the varieties in this SOW slab of seed have a milder, sweeter flavour than other beets, and the candy cane actually doesn’t stain. Simply plant your soil slab, water it and watch the embedded heirloom seeds germinate into wholesome, tasty vegetables.

Candy Cane beetroot is also known as the Bulls-Eye Beet or Chioggia. An Italian Heirloom with leaves that are green with a pink striped stem while the roots are cherry red on the outside with alternating rings of white and deep pink when sliced but color fades when cooked. Flavor is sweeter than purple beets.

Golden Detroit’s  orange roots turn golden yellow when cooked.  Sweet taste even when large. Good bolt resistance and stores well.  Eat beet tops before any sign of wilting for maximum flavor. In most cases the smaller the beet the sweeter and the larger the beet the more ‘earthy’ it will taste.
