This aluminium-free baking powder is part of the Natures Choice bio-friendly range. The bio-friendly products are locally made, milled in-house and contain no additives or preservatives.
Most baking powders contain aluminium compounds, which often give baked goods a slightly metallic or bitter taste – this can be avoided by using an aluminium-free substitute. Research has also started linking aluminium consumption with the development of Alzheimer’s Disease, and aluminium-free baking powder is widely considered as an essential ingredient for health-conscious baking.
Nature's Choice Baking Powder consists of two containers, ie Potassium Bicarbonate in the small container and Corn Flour and Cream of Tartar in the bigger container.
Mix 1tsp Potassium Bicarbonate with 4tsps Cream of Tartar and Corn Flour mixture. Sift together well. Use 1 level tsp of mixture per cup of flour.
Only ever mix up enough Natures Choice Baking Powder for one day’s baking as it will not keep. Mix enough for your immediate needs as the ingredients will react with each other and lose their potency if mixed and left standing for longer than one week.
