A spiralizer is a device that quickly and effectively transforms vegetables, such as zucchini, beets and carrots into curly, pasta-like strands. Spiralizers are very useful in a plant-based kitchen, because aside from their aesthetic benefits, Spiralizers take normally rough, chewy vegetables and ultimately makes them easier to chew and a pleasure to munch on raw. Spiralizers are the tools behind the creation of raw “pastas” that adequately mimic the real deal.
It’s a huge hit with kids, too, who love seeing the veggies squish out in interesting curly shapes.

Eating something like courgetti instead of pasta with your bolognaise sauce saves you lots of calories and significantly helps you cut back on refined carbohydrates, which is great if you are watching your health and carbohydrate intake. Spiralizing also encourages us to eat larger quantities of fruit and vegetables, especially raw ones, which helps increase the amount of fibre we’re eating, too.
A Great Idea: sweet-potato rice - Spiralize the potato, then whizz it in the blender until it’s chopped up!
Raw Spiralized Pasta with Tahini Tomato Dressing (Serves 2)
-1 large zucchini
-1/4 teaspoon sea salt
-1 cup cherry tomatoes
-2 tablespoons tahini
-1 tablespoon soy sauce (nama shoyu)
-1 tablespoon nutritional yeast
-1 garlic clove
-1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
-1 tablespoon olive oil
-Avocado, herbs, red pepper flakes, and/or cherry tomatoes for garnish (optional)
Slice off both ends of the zucchini with knife so that the edges are even. Place the zucchini between the Spiralizer prongs so that the edges hit flat against both the base end and the blade end. Begin to turn the wheel, applying pressure inwards toward the zucchini as you go. When you reach the end, collect the pasta strands and place into a medium-sized bowl. Season with salt and massage lightly with clean hands. Set aside while you prepare the dressing.
For the dressing, mix all remaining ingredients in a food processor or blender and mix until smooth. Pour the dressing into the pasta bowl and fold the zucchini strands until each is covered evenly with the sauce. Serve with your choice of garnish. I used sliced avocado and red pepper flakes.
2 out of 3 people would recommend this product07/05/2016, By MaryIm so glad I bought the spiralizer....love my salads and spaghetti that I make with it..happlily recommend this item15/04/2016, By NellaI was initially sceptical of ordering this spiralizer because of the negative review. However, I checked on Amazon.com and this unit had received many good reviews so I ordered it. So far i have successfully, easily and quickly spiralized apples and carrots. Am trying the zucchini next. Its very easy to use and a breeze to clean. A quick rinse under the tap and a small brush to to remove the bits of fruit/veg that stick to the blade and its clean. I am delighted with this purchase.24/02/2016, By Disappointed CustomerI had high hopes for this product but it fell short. I tried to spiralize baby marrows which are the easiest thing but rather than create spirals, it creates short curls instead. Also, you can only do this with 1 of the 3 blades supplied - the other two blades are a dud in my opinion and unable to properly slice vegetables.
I would have loved to return this product, alas I have just seen that the return window is only 7 days and I just started using this product a week after I purchased it.
