But lately I've been using a natural laundry product, which resulted in my washing to gradually become quite grey - something I never experienced before in several decades of taking care of my family's laundry! I was very discouraged, but then remembered the packet of natural bleach I still had. I soaked a few (already washed) garments in a warm solution of the bleach, and within only a few minutes, the water was rather grey. So it had removed much of the trapped filth in my supposedly clean washing! So as far as keeping whites white and general washing bright, I think it does its job. Some of my clothes still need a second round of soaking, but I guess it's difficult to get rid of months of greyness in just one soak. I'd hoped that it would help me get rid of the chemical bleach, but unfortunately not yet ... Just soaking it, helps little. I even used it on a damp cloth to rub off the stains, and that was fairly effective, but I needed to use quite a bit. So I'm not impressed with its function as far as stains on dishes are concerned.
