WHAT IS PINE TAR
Pine tar is a thick dark brown sticky syrup extracted from stumps and roots of pine trees under extreme heat and pressure.

BENEFITS OF PINE TAR IN TOPICAL APPLICATIONS
Pine tar has been used in medicine for more than 2000 years to treat a range of skin conditions because of its soothing and antiseptic properties and is thought to exert its effect by reducing DNA synthesis and mitotic activity, which promotes a return to normal keratinisation. In addition, pine tar has been shown to be antipruritic, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and antifungal. These properties make pine tar suitable for the topical treatment of eczema, psoriasis, seborrhoeic dermatitis and other dry, itchy, flaky or inflamed skin conditions. It can be used on the entire body, including the face.

HOW IS PINE TAR MADE
Pine tar is made from carbonizing pine stumps and roots at very high temperatures and pressure in either a closed or open kiln. It has been used for centuries as a sealer for wooden boats, in roof construction and as an ingredient in soaps and shampoos. Closed Kiln – pine tar suitable for topical application is manufactured using the closed kiln method that produces a tar with extremely high levels of purity. Open Kiln – pine tar suitable for weather treating and sealing wood is manufactured using the open kiln process. The smoke and little fragments of unburned wood can come in contact with the tar and result in the creation of creosote, a known carcinogen.

Ingredients
Olive Oil, water, Caustic Soda, pine tar

This soap has been a skin saver.lol to say the least. I can now enjoy my pregnancy further. By the 3rd day I already saw my skin clearing up and not much red itchyness. I also sleep better since this puppps rash kicks in way worse at night but thanks to the soap I sleep like a baby.

This cleared up my pregnancy rash so fast! It doesn't smell amazing but trust me it works wonders! Really happy to have gotten rid of my unbearably itchy rash.

This bar of soap relieved my Puppps rash during pregnancy. After using the soap only a few times the rash was gone.

I recently had a severe case of the pupps rash during my 33rd week of pregnancy. This soap calmed the rash immediately. I am 35 weeks now and still using it in combination with steroid cream from dermatologist. I love the smell of it. So happy I bought it as the rash was really unbearable for me.

I am Pregnant and suffered from Pupps rash this soap was a life saver. Apply over rash area and wait five minutes then rinse. Eleviates itch and calms the skin. Amazing.

Yes it does smell but the smell does not stay on the scalp and it definitely relieves the itching so, worth trying and best to keep it in a container.

I was gifted a bar of this soap. Sure, the smell is a bit overwhelming, but it relieved the itchy spot on my arm in just a few uses. My colleague who has eczema also tried it. She was amazed at the instant relief. Best of all, she doesn’t have to use her expensive ointments anymore. For those who struggle with the smell, just apply a bit of Vicks under your nose. It helps a lot.

The soap works really well on my sensitive skin but it stinks so bad that it stank out my whole house. Had to throw it away after one use.

I suffer from a pregnancy rash called PUPPPS/PEP and I had read several blogs that spoke about pine tar soap assisting in relieving the itch. I'm not a fan of the smell but would rather deal with that than an itch that is unbearable. This is truly is an amazing product to relieve the itch.

If you enjoy the smell of Camping then this soap is for you but it is definitely messy, has a very strong tar smell and it gives off a gell like residue causing the soap bar to not last very long. Definitely not worth the price

I actually really like this product. I don't mind the smell, which is similar to an old campfire smell. I use it for a dry and itchy scalp, which needs continual treatment or it gets pretty unmanageable. I use a tea tree oil rinse, apple cider vinegar

Very happy to receive my order and tried the Pine Tar soap. It's smell is almost like 'Pinetarsol' products I use from Australia (more expensive). However, Pure Simple Castile Pine Tar soap bought from FTN is a extremely messy soap. 1 Bar of soap lasts me a week! It prevents me from itching and scratching, provided I use with other emollients. Maybe a better idea would be if the pinetar Castile soap would be better used as a bath oil rather than in a soap form?

I bought this soap because it promised quite a few things my skin needs in its description - it sounded gentle and like it would smell like a pine forest. However, upon receiving it, I got a blinding headache from the smell... it really is horrible. I still thought that maybe I should just give it a chance and at the very least wet it. Nope, it stinks even worse and the soap makes the running water look dirty (which makes me wonder if it would stain a really light skintone?) Anyhow, I had to get rid of it without ever using it. I just cannot stand that smell...

I enjoy Pure Simple soaps as they foam well and are well priced but this soap smell of Pine Tar it just not for me, it is a very strong over powering smell, it reminded me of a burnt forest sadly.
