Wild rice is an aquatic grass seed that is more difficult to grow and harvest than regular commercially cultivated rice, but is well worth the extra effort thanks to its numerous health benefits. It is free of gluten and sodium, and contains twice as much protein as brown rice.
Being rich in antioxidants, fibre and essential vitamins and minerals, wild rice has a remarkably high nutritional value – with the added benefit of being lower in calories than other varieties of rice.
The wild Canadian rice from Earth Products is organically grown and has not been hybridised; this helps to preserve all those valuable nutrients, as well as the pleasant nutty flavour.
- Rinse thoroughly in cold water before cooking.
- 1 cup uncooked wild rice = 3-4 cups cooked wild rice.
- Add 1 cup wild rice to 6 cups boiling water, and cook on a low heat until tender (45-60 minutes). Drain off excess liquid before serving.
100% Wild Canadian rice.
3 out of 4 people would recommend this product13/06/2018, By NosiphoWild rice is amazing, could be bigger though, I mix it with brown rice to increase quantity.08/06/2018, By NosiphoI got spelt kernels instead of wild rice, pretty bummed.22/06/2017, By EdwardSusan, same for me. But remember this is not a normal rice. I agree with the price but if they can reduce the price - that would be great.06/07/2015, By SusanI recently placed an order of the wild rice. At R54+ I thought I would get 500gms or 350gms. I was so disappointed to receive 100gms for R54+. This price is crazy. If I was to feed my family of 4 I would need R250.00 for just one meal and even then, still leave them starving. This is ridiculously pricey. Please put an option of rating to No Star
