Waste Collection:
- Waste-ED gather non-compostable plastic, glass, and rubber trash and turn it into treasure. They organise community clean-up outings to keep our beaches, and beautiful bush pristine. They’ve also have set up eco-brick drop-off points all over the Western Cape*. Waste-ED have partnered with event, and festival organisers to manage all of the rubbish generated. Once they’ve collected all of the non-compostable trash, they clean, and repurpose it into alternative building materials for their beautiful builds.
Educational Initiatives:
- Waste-ED work with schools, and communities to bring awareness to the global plastic crisis, and teach practical solutions to these problems. They work with schools, like Levana Primary in Lavender Hill, Cape Town. Together with the teachers there, Waste-ED help to nurture a love for nature, and inspire a passion for waste-free living.
- They also help to prevent new plastic waste from being produced and fill hungry tummies at the same time. They do this by setting up vegetable gardens, and teaching people how to farm their own fresh foods.
Community Builds:
- Waste-ED are savvy builders who combine alternative, and traditional building materials in new and innovative ways. They use eco-bricks, glass, tyres, and clay to make beautiful park benches, outdoor classrooms, and modular furniture.
*Eco-Brick Drop Off Points:
Waste-ED are working hard to add new drop-offs were ever they can, and some recent additions are:
- Nude Foods, Cape Town CBD
- Shop Zero, Woodstock
- Wild and Waste Free, Glencairn
