Did you know the Bushmen painted the Eland in red, yellow and white? This delightful activity book has been lovingly created to draw kids into a relationship with the eco-systems of nature. Creative Nature Fynbos, created by animal communicator Kate Muller, teaches all about indigenous animals of the fynbos kingdom with beautiful pictures to colour, games and questions, and a poem especially for each animal. Leopard to Sunbird, to porcupine to eagle, there are activities such as write your own poem, word searches, as well as little gems of information to encourage eco-consciousness in your little ones aged 4 to 12, but you may find yourself drawn in too!

Some Poems to inspire you:

Verreaux’s Eagle

Black Eagle      Witkruisarend      Ukhozi      Untsho

Soaring high up in the sky
Against the sun to hunt you fly.
Dassies in the midday rays
Have special eyes as they know your ways,
They are not blinded as you hunt your prey.
Swooping out the sky of blue
The hot white sun behind you,

Quick as lightning the dassies flee
To every corner under rock and tree.
They know this trick and are very fast
But some fall prey to you at last.
To feed your chicks and your wife,
Loving partners, together for life.

Eland      Impofu

Mighty Eland
Do not take fright
And across the plains
Run in flight.

I just want to see you,
And your big doe eyes.
To honour your spirit
As they did in Bushman times.

May you live long
And strong with your kind
And always walk with grace
Across African lines.

I pray now with my heart
And I pray now with my mind.
I respect your spirit
And all of your kind.

I bought 3 of these for my little cousins overseas, the eldest one is 10 years old and all three of them were delighted with this activity book. The poems are informative and beautifully written. I will be buying the penguin one for them next.
