9 out of 17 people would recommend this product26/10/2020, By AmyTasty08/09/2020, By HillaryI'm loving my SCOBY.15/07/2020, By RoxanneUnfortunately I didn’t see any of the reviews of the product when I bought it. I really wish I had!
My SCOBY has also not dehydrated.
I followed the instructions to the letter, and it’s sitting in the tea almost completely dehydrated.
A very expensive product for something that doesn’t work and cannot be exchanged.17/06/2020, By MiaI bought the dried scoby in January and kept it in the original box it came in and only opened it 2 weeks ago. Week 1, no fermentation occurred, the scoby did not become soft and jelly like like the kit I previously purchased. Week 2 and the taste is still not there, no smell of fermentation either and what makes it worse is that the scoby is rotten, is grew moldy, the instructions were followed to the T. A huge disappointment and waste of R255, should have just spent the R350 for the kit from Theonista again.11/06/2020, By KellyLike many other customers, I was angry and confused after two months of absolutely nothing changing. I had made kambucha before, years ago, so I know what I'm doing. I followed the instructions to the T but nothing happened.
After googling I came to the conclusion that is not enough sugar in this mixture, so I added 100 ml for every liter and... success!
What I think is a better recipe for this is add about 200ml of sugar for every liter of tea.03/06/2020, By TaraI wish that I'd read all the reviews before purchasing this scoby. I followed all the instructions carefully and 5 weeks later, the scoby is still dehydrated. An absolute waste of money and also disappointed in Faithful to Nature for selling such an inferior product.01/06/2020, By ElizabethMy scoby has been brewing for a month now and there has been no development at all. It does not show any potential to re-hydrate.
I am very disappointed that Faithful to Nature would include this as part of their product offering (especially when reading all the negative reviews below). I started brewing a small piece of hydrated scoby on the same day I started this one. They are in the same containers and stand in the same spot in my house. Under exactly the same conditions the hydrated scoby has tripled in size. I do realise that a hydrated scoby will take longer to develop but it cannot be the conditions holding it back.09/05/2020, By ElineI will not recommend anyone to buy this product. I have brewed kombucha successful for a long time in the past and I wanted to start again. So I bought this product in good faith, after reading all the bad reviews. It is still not hydrated after 30 days, it looks exactly like the same thin disc which was in the packet. I'm very disappointed!!08/05/2020, By CamiDid not work15/03/2020, By EstieAfter weeks the scoby is still dehydrated. Instructions were followed12/12/2019, By LaurenFollowed all instructions EXACTLY (ie. Scoby kept in cool, dark place until the weather got warm enough to make Kombucha; used spring water; used plain black tea and made sure that no liquid was too hot for the Scoby), but this Scoby failed to even start!! I checked it regularly and made sure it had the conditions that it needed, but it remained the same size and did not make any Kombucha. Spent R250 on a dead Scoby. VERY DISAPPOINTED!!25/04/2019, By AnsieI made a started batch as instructed by the leaflet (Then afterwards I saw on the internet that vinegar must not be used, but rather kombucha tea). After about 4months and leaving a batch for 1.5 weeks, mold started to grow on the tea. When I troubleshooted I saw that when using a dehydrated scoby the living things that protect from mold are too weak from dehydration to protect the Kombucha. So this is a common occurrence with dehydrated and refrigerated kombucha scobies. So I'm very disappointed to say the least.30/12/2018, By bridgetBought as a gift for the husband who is crazy about kombucha - now he's decided he cant drink green tea - thats the next challenge - to find out how to make kombucha without green tea!30/08/2018, By ColleenMy scoby is still dehydrating. Have been checking it and it looks good so hopefully will be able to make Kombucha shortly.05/08/2018, By ChrisAfter weeks the scoby is still dehydrated. Instructions were followed to the tee.
Maybe it is a summer product requiring warmer weather. Just not working for me.
10/07/2018, By AngelaMy friend and I both purchased this kit. We followed instructions to the letter, and weeks later, we both still had a dehydrated scoby. When we contacted the supplier, we were told to leave it in a bit longer, which we did. If that did not work, we had to place them in a new batch of tea, which we did . Unfortunately, none of ours rehydrated and we both threw out our batches. We wasted our money :(25/06/2018, By KeikomiKombucha is something I have wanted to try out for ages, but it looked so difficult. It turns out it is actually extremely simple. I have loved cultivating my own juice. Amazing.
