Be careful of the Environment you choose, because it will shape you. And this is exactly why we are encouraging, perhaps begging, all our Faithful Fans to help us collect as many bags of litter as possible over the weekend of World Environment Day.<\/p>\n

It is a great way to get the kids and your community involved \u2013 grab a few bags and head out to your local park, beach or even street and get picking! Send us photographs, letting us know how many bags you were able to fill of trash, and together hopefully those bags will make a mountain of difference.<\/p>\n

We\u2019d love to add your photos to an album on Facebook, to inspire others next year to join in as we reach for higher targets of bags filled of rubbish.<\/p>\n

So come on all of you that call yourselves, Faithful to Nature \u2013 help spread the word to make a world of difference and let\u2019s inspire many others to do the same!<\/p>\n

Some unsettling but important information on why litter causes so much damage:<\/div>\n

Litter hurts animals.<\/strong> Many small animals crawl into bottles or jars and get stuck and slowly starve to death. Animals get caught in plastic six pack rings, plastic bags, fishing line and a multitude of throwaways. Birds that are stuck, can\u2019t fly away from danger. Sometimes animals caught in six pack rings are strangled as they grow too big for the opening. Animals get cut, infected and die. Every year, millions of birds, fish and animals die from litter.<\/p>\n

Litter reduces the quality of air and soil.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Litter also harms plants and degrades natural areas.<\/strong> When litter like is dumped, it can kill or stunt plant growth.<\/p>\n

Litter carries Germs<\/strong>: Scavengers, such as rats are drawn to lots of litter. Rats are carriers of many types of diseases that make people ill.<\/p>\n

Litter cost communities.<\/strong> Clean communities have a better chance of attracting new business and residents and tourists.<\/p>\n

Litter hurts people.<\/strong> Every year there are numerous vehicle accidents caused by litter. People in these accidents are injured and sometimes even killed in their attempts to avoid litter in the roadways. Young children fall on litter in playgrounds, get cut and need medical attention.<\/p>\n

Litter harms water quality<\/strong>. Careless dumping of hazardous waste seeps into surrounding soil and cause ground water pollution.<\/p>\n

Litter is Expensive<\/strong>: The amount of money being spent picking up litter could be used in repairing roads, hiring more fireman and police.<\/p>\n
