So our green team is going to show you how to whip up your very own natural tooth powder, <strong>homemade toothpaste<\/strong> &amp; mouthwash.<\/p>\n<p>These home recipes are surprisingly quick and easy to make, and rely on only <strong>natural ingredients<\/strong>, so you can be absolutely sure of what&#8217;s going onto your toothbrush.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Did You Know?<\/strong> <\/em>Toothpaste is regulated as a cosmetic product and not a food &#8211; even though we put it in our mouths every day and swallow small amounts every time we brush!<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2><strong>1. Natural &#8220;Squeezable&#8221; Coconut Homemade Toothpaste<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2><em><strong>What You Need:<\/strong><\/em><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>3Tbsp <a href=\"http:\/\/www.faithful-to-nature.co.za\/Crede-Organic-Virgin-Coconut-Oil-p-540.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">coconut oil<\/a> (room temperature)<\/li>\n<li>3Tbsp filtered boiling water<\/li>\n<li>\u00betsp fine <a href=\"http:\/\/www.faithful-to-nature.co.za\/Himalayan-Fine-Salt-p-600.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Himalayan crystal salt<\/a><\/li>\n<li>1tsp\u00a0baking soda<\/li>\n<li>2Tbsp\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.faithful-to-nature.co.za\/Nautica-Bentonite-Healing-Clay-p-4440.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">bentonite clay<\/a><\/li>\n<li>\u00bctsp <a href=\"http:\/\/www.faithful-to-nature.co.za\/Nautica-Organic-Peppermint-Essential-Oil-p-3614.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">peppermint\u00a0essential oil<\/a><\/li>\n<li>\u00bctsp <a href=\"http:\/\/www.faithful-to-nature.co.za\/Soil-Eucalyptus-Essential-Oil-p-269.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">eucalyptus essential oil<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Pinch of stevia powder (optional)<\/li>\n<li>A clean squeezable tube (most supermarkets sell empty squeeze-tubes for airline travel)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2><em><strong>What To Do:<\/strong><\/em><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Coconut oil at room temperature will be quite solid, so you\u2019ll need to thin it a bit. Blend together the coconut oil and water, then allow to cool slightly.<\/li>\n<li>Add the salt, baking soda and essential oils.<\/li>\n<li>Mix in the bentonite clay, using a plastic or wooden spoon.<\/li>\n<li>Slowly add more water if needed, one tablespoon at a time.<\/li>\n<li>Once you have a smooth paste, spoon it into the empty tube. Brush your teeth as normal.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h2><strong>2. Detoxifying Tooth Powder<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h2><em><strong>What You Need:<\/strong><\/em><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>4Tbsp <a href=\"http:\/\/www.faithful-to-nature.co.za\/Nautica-Bentonite-Healing-Clay-p-4440.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">bentonite clay<\/a><\/li>\n<li>2tsp baking soda<\/li>\n<li>1\u00bdtsp <a href=\"http:\/\/www.faithful-to-nature.co.za\/Oryx-Desert-Salt-Fine-p-3010.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fine desert salt<\/a> or sea salt (unrefined)<\/li>\n<li>\u00bdtsp <a href=\"http:\/\/www.faithful-to-nature.co.za\/Good-Life-Organic-Clove-Powder-p-5669.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">powdered clove<\/a><\/li>\n<li>1tsp <a href=\"http:\/\/www.faithful-to-nature.co.za\/Good-Life-Organic-Ground-Cinnamon-p-890.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ground cinnamon<\/a><\/li>\n<li>5-10 drops <a href=\"http:\/\/www.faithful-to-nature.co.za\/Soil-Peppermint-Essential-Oil-p-277.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">peppermint essential oil<\/a> (or 1\u00bdtsp finely ground peppermint tea leaves)<\/li>\n<li>\u00bd-1tsp unrefined <a href=\"http:\/\/www.faithful-to-nature.co.za\/Natures-Choice-Stevia-Powder-p-4280.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">stevia<\/a> or <a href=\"http:\/\/www.faithful-to-nature.co.za\/Health-Connection-Xylitol-p-953.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">xylitol powder<\/a> (optional; adds sweetness)<\/li>\n<li>\u00betsp activated charcoal (optional)<\/li>\n<li>A clean glass container<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2><em><strong>What To Do:<\/strong><\/em><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Use a plastic or wooden spoon (NOT metal) to mix all ingredients together in a clean glass jar.<\/li>\n<li>Add a little powder to a wet toothbrush and simply brush as normal.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Bentonite clay helps to detoxify and alkalise the mouth; it also provides essential minerals. Minty Antibacterial Mouthwash<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2><em><strong>What You Need:<\/strong><\/em><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00bdcup filtered water<\/li>\n<li>2tsp baking soda<\/li>\n<li>2 drops <a href=\"http:\/\/www.faithful-to-nature.co.za\/Soil-Tea-Tree-Essential-Oil-p-280.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tea tree essential oil<\/a><\/li>\n<li>2 drops <a href=\"http:\/\/www.faithful-to-nature.co.za\/Soil-Peppermint-Essential-Oil-p-277.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">peppermint essential oil<\/a><\/li>\n<li>A clean glass container<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2><em><strong>What To Do:<\/strong><\/em><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Simply mix all ingredients together in a clean mason jar or glass bottle.<\/li>\n<li>Shake the container well before each use &amp; gargle 2-3tsp of the mouth wash for about a minute.<\/li>\n<li>For best results, use daily after brushing your teeth.<\/li>\n<li>As with any mouthwash, try to avoid swallowing the mixture while gargling.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Tea tree oil is antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral and anti-inflammatory.
