The diet, <a href=\"https:\/\/whole30.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">founded by Melissa Hartwig Urban<\/a> just over 10 years ago, came about when a 30-day diet experiment &#8220;transformed Urban&#8217;s health, habits, and emotional relationship with food.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s something that takes dedication and commitment for the entire 30 days, but really isn\u2019t too difficult once you\u2019ve made the commitment. Here\u2019s our top tips if you\u2019re thinking of investing in your health for the next 30 days.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<h1><em><strong>It\u2019s not about weight loss<\/strong><\/em><\/h1>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Whole30 is about figuring out what does and doesn\u2019t work for YOUR body. It\u2019s essentially an eliminatory diet that helps you figure out your food intolerances as well as \u201creset\u201d your midset when it comes to food.<\/p>\n<p>DON\u2019T weigh yourself during the 30 days. That\u2019s not where your intent should lie, but rather take not of improvements in sleep, energy levels, mood, digestion, skin reactions etc. Whole30 aims to manage inflammation and nurture your gut; ultimately nurturing your relationship with food.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li>\n<h1><em><strong>There\u2019s no measuring or restricting calories (Eat as much as you want!)<\/strong><\/em><\/h1>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Yep. This is our kinda diet. All you need to do is stick to the guidelines of what you can eat. There\u2019s no counting calories needed or measuring cups that need to be pulled out at every meal. You\u2019ll be eating lots (TONS) of vegetables, fruits, healthy fats, herbs &amp; spices. Whole foods that nourish and sustain.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li>\n<h1><em><strong>Yes, vegans &amp; vegetarians CAN do Whole30<\/strong><\/em><\/h1>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>If you\u2019re vegetarian or vegan, you\u2019ve probably read the \u2018no\u2019 list and thought, \u201cNo Legumes?? Where am I supposed to get protein??\u201d. And now you\u2019re wondering if this is even feasible. The answer is yes, but, you\u2019ll need to put a bit of work into planning your meals well.<\/p>\n<p>Luckily, not ALL legumes are excluded. You\u2019re able to enjoy green beans and sugar snap peas which have good protein value as well as nuts &amp; seeds like cashews &amp; flax.<\/p>\n<p>Ultimately, you need to listen to your body &amp; ensure that you\u2019re getting enough nutrients (which might mean leaving legumes and beans in the mix for the time being). Check out these handy shopping lists to help with your next visit to the grocery store.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"4\">\n<li>\n<h1><em><strong>No Slip-Ups!<\/strong><\/em><\/h1>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>This is 30 days that you really need to take and invest in yourself. It\u2019s only effective if you fully commit to eliminating specific foods so that you can accurately test how your body responds. A new diet is always an adjustment, so being prepared will make it harder to slip up and meal-prepping can go a long way in helping you stick to it.<\/p>\n<p>Be prepared to turn down plans &amp; explain to friends and family, but remind yourself why you\u2019ve taken on the challenge. This is for YOU.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"5\">\n<li>\n<h1><em><strong>The reintroduction phase is just as important<\/strong><\/em><\/h1>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The end of the 30 days is really the most important part of the process.
