These deliciously creamy custard tarts taste just the same (if not, better) than their dairy counterparts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Ingredients<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>For the pastry<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>2 cups <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.faithful-to-nature.co.za\/cocomi-desiccated-coconut\" target=\"_blank\">dessicated coconut<\/a><\/li><li>1 cup ground <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.faithful-to-nature.co.za\/faithful-to-nature-almonds-raw-supreme-300g\" target=\"_blank\">almonds<\/a> (or use <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.faithful-to-nature.co.za\/faithful-to-nature-almonds-blanched-ground-300g\" target=\"_blank\">almond flour<\/a>)<\/li><li>\u00bd cup <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.faithful-to-nature.co.za\/cocomi-coconut-flour\" target=\"_blank\">coconut<\/a> or <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.faithful-to-nature.co.za\/faithful-to-nature-rice-flour-400g\" target=\"_blank\">brown rice flour <\/a><\/li><li>1 Tbsp <a href=\"https:\/\/www.faithful-to-nature.co.za\/theonista-loose-leaf-organic-tea-solstice-blend\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">loose leaf rooibos<\/a><\/li><li>1 tsp <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.faithful-to-nature.co.za\/kalyan-organic-ground-cinnamon\" target=\"_blank\">cinnamon<\/a><\/li><li>1\/2 teaspoon <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.faithful-to-nature.co.za\/oryx-desert-salt-fine\" target=\"_blank\">salt<\/a><\/li><li>10 medjool dates<\/li><li>1 tbsp <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.faithful-to-nature.co.za\/vanilla-man-vanilla-extract-50ml\" target=\"_blank\">vanilla extract<\/a><\/li><li>1\/4 cup melted <a href=\"https:\/\/www.faithful-to-nature.co.za\/catalogsearch\/result\/?q=coconut+oil+\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">coconut oil<\/a><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>For the filling<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>2 rooibos tea bags<\/li><li>1 cup <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.faithful-to-nature.co.za\/faithful-to-nature-cashew-nuts-raw-300g\" target=\"_blank\">cashews<\/a>, soaked overnight<\/li><li>5 1\/2 cups water<\/li><li>3 cups <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.faithful-to-nature.co.za\/komati-coconut-flakes\" target=\"_blank\">flaked coconut<\/a><\/li><li>2 teaspoons <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.faithful-to-nature.co.za\/health-connection-agar-agar-powder\" target=\"_blank\">agar agar <\/a><\/li><li>1\/4 cup <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.faithful-to-nature.co.za\/chaloner-maple-syrup-grade-a-dark-amber\" target=\"_blank\">maple<\/a> or \u00bd cup <a href=\"https:\/\/www.faithful-to-nature.co.za\/faithful-to-nature-organic-rice-malt-syrup\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">brown rice syrup<\/a><\/li><li>2 teaspoons <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.faithful-to-nature.co.za\/good-life-organic-arrowroot-powder\" target=\"_blank\">arrowroot powder<\/a><\/li><li>1 tablespoon vanilla extract<\/li><li>pinch of salt<\/li><li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.faithful-to-nature.co.za\/disposable-cheese-cloth\" target=\"_blank\">Cheese cloth<\/a> or <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.faithful-to-nature.co.za\/amy-zing-3-in-1-almond-nut-milk-bag\" target=\"_blank\">nut milk bag<\/a><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Method<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Pastry<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Preheat oven to 150\u00baC. Line the bottom of the spring form cake pan with baking paper and grease the sides with coconut oil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Combine all the ingredients except the coconut oil and vanilla in a food processor or high speed blender (like an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.faithful-to-nature.co.za\/omniblend\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Omniblend<\/a>) until finely ground \u2013 it should resemble rough sand. <\/li><li>Then add in the coconut oil and vanilla and mix through. The pastry will be dry but moist enough to press down into the cake tin. <\/li><li>Carefully press the pastry into the tin, making sure you push the crust up all around the sides of the tin. <\/li><li>Prick the bottom (very important) and bake for 20-25min or until golden brown. <\/li><li>Leave it in the tin and allow to cool completely before adding the filling. <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Filling:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Add the cashews, flaked coconut and water to a blender and blend for 1-2min until very well blended. You may have to do this in stages as it\u2019s a lot of liquid. <\/li><li>Pour through a nut milk bag (Tip \u2013 you can make the filling first and dehydrate the coconut and cashew pulp to replace the coconut flour and almond flour needed for the crust).&nbsp;<\/li><li>You should have approximately 1.4 liters of cashew-coconut milk.<\/li><li>In a large pot, bring the milk, rooibos tea bags, vanilla, agar agar, maple syrup and salt to boil.<\/li><li>Whisk continuously, reduce the heat and simmer for about 15min.<\/li><li>In a separate bowl, dissolve the arrowroot with 1 tablespoon of water.<\/li><li>Add to the milk and continue whisking. Once it starts to thicken, remove it from the heat and let it cool for 10-15min.<\/li><li>Remove the tea bags and whisk through before pouring into the cooled crust (make sure it is still in your cake tin).<\/li><li>Leave it to cool completely before refrigerating for 3-5 hours to set.
