Make a large batch and place them in a sealed bag in the freezer, when you feel the need for a sweet treat, just pop one or two out the bag and enjoy!<br \/>\nBest of all they are gluten-free, grain-free, dairy-free and of course vegan!<\/p>\n<p><em>For my patients on calorie-controlled meal plans:<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>1 x 25g serving of this recipe (Approximately 1 date ball) =<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>1 fruit serving<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>1 fat serving<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>INGREDIENTS<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>200g fresh dates<\/li>\n<li>\u00bd cup <a href=\"https:\/\/www.faithful-to-nature.co.za\/catalogsearch\/result\/?q=almond+flour\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">almond flour<\/a><\/li>\n<li>1 tsp <a href=\"https:\/\/www.faithful-to-nature.co.za\/catalogsearch\/result\/?q=vanilla+essence\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">vanilla essence<\/a><\/li>\n<li>2 tbsp unsweetened <a href=\"https:\/\/www.faithful-to-nature.co.za\/catalogsearch\/result\/?q=unsweetened+cocoa+powder\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cocoa powder<\/a><\/li>\n<li>\u00bc cup chopped <a href=\"https:\/\/www.faithful-to-nature.co.za\/catalogsearch\/result\/?q=nuts\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">nuts <\/a>of choice (optional)<\/li>\n<li>\u00be cup dried <a href=\"https:\/\/www.faithful-to-nature.co.za\/catalogsearch\/result\/?q=desiccated+coconut\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">desiccated coconut<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>METHOD<em>:<\/em><\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Pit your dates and add them into your blender along with the almond flour, vanilla essence and cocoa powder.<\/li>\n<li>Turn your blender onto high speed and blend until the mixture forms one large sticky ball. If the mixture is quite wet, add a bit more almond flour and keep blending until you get a firm doughy ball that is easy to work with. The amount of almond flour needed will depend on the water content of the dates you use.<\/li>\n<li>Take the ball of dough out of your blender and place in a mixing bowl. Add in your chopped nuts and mix through by hand so that they are evenly distributed throughout the date mixture.<\/li>\n<li>Separate your date mixture into about 15 evenly sized pieces (depending on how big you like your balls to be) and roll each piece between your hands into a neat ball.<\/li>\n<li>Pour your desiccated coconut onto a large plate or baking tray and spread it out to make an even layer.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This\u00a0Chocolate Coconut Date Balls recipe was made by Jess\u00a0Kotlowitz, The Green Dietitian.
