But even the most conscientious of cleaners have their pet peeves, with the occasional mess, muck or smell that stubbornly sticks around. This list of clever cleaning tips&nbsp;and tricks is just what you need to tackle those niggling cleaning challenges around your home.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>A Better Bin Lining <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Crumple up some newspaper and use it to line the bottom of a fresh garbage bag before placing it in your kitchen bin. The newspaper will absorb odours and leaks, saving you the hassle of dealing with nasty smells and messes from your garbage bag.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Mucky Mirrors<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>To clear dull-looking mirrors and glass surfaces, spray them with a mixture of \u00bc cup white vinegar and 1Tbsp corn starch in 2 cups of warm water. Wipe them down with a little newspaper for a streak-free finish.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Grotty Cheese Grater<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>If you\u2019re struggling to clean that cheesy crud off your grater, just use it to grate a chunk of raw potato. The potato\u2019s hard firm texture and natural oxalic acid content will easily get rid of that hard-to-clean gunk, without the need for scrubbing or scraping.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>The Glitter Trick<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>If you\u2019re the crafty type, or a parent of creative kids, your house is likely to be the site of frequent glitter spills \u2013 and we all know that sparkly stuff is near impossible to clean up! The solution is simple though; simply take a ball of play dough and roll it through the spilled glitter. It will stick like magic \u2013 and the result is a sparkly ball of play dough that will still provide hours of creative fun (if it\u2019s clean enough). Bring the mixture to a boil, then remove it from the heat and add 2Tbsp baking soda. Empty the pan and give it a scrub; those scorch marks should make way for a shiny clean surface.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Toilet Tank Tip<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>This tip will save you a lot of scrubbing. First, get a glass jar with a metal lid (like a jam jar or mason jar), and fill it with vinegar. Punch a couple of small holes in the lid (use a small nail), then pop the jar upside-down into your toilet\u2019s water tank. Each time you flush, a little vinegar will seep out of the jar, helping to keep the toilet bowl free of nasty build-up. Plus the jar will take up a bit of space in the tank, saving you some water usage.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Coffee Grinder<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>To clean the blades of your coffee grinder, simply grind a piece of stale bread or a handful of uncooked white rice; this will pick up debris from old coffee grounds, as well as lingering smells. This will work for your spice grinder too.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Tumble Dryer Towel Trick<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The dryer is so convenient in winter, but it can really send your electricity bill soaring. To cut right down on drying time, simply place a clean dry towel in the tumble dryer with your wet items. The towel will help to absorb the excess moisture in the dryer, making the process that much quicker.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Do It Detergent-Free<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Have you ever considered ditching the detergent and cleaning using nothing but water?
