Goes on smoothly. Best pencil I have ever had. The brown is not very dark, which is good, but it has a bit of red in it. That is the color shown in the photo, I was just hoping the reddish tint was not really there. Just barely reddish - I just wish it was more ash brown. Other than that, perfect.
