Unlike teabags, which are often made using the dust and fanning’s of tea leaves, loose leaf teas are less refined. They hold more of their health benefits, as without a tea bag they have more space to absorb water, expand and infuse, allowing more vitamins, minerals, flavours and aromas to be released from the leaves.
To Make a Cup: You will need a "tea basket" that inserts into a cup, a "tea ball" or an individual empty "tea bag." Place a tablespoon of Tulsi tea leaves into the tea basket, ball or tea bag, and place in your favourite mug. Bring clean fresh water to boil, and pour boiling water over Tulsi tea leaves in your cup. Cover and let steep for 5 - 10 minutes. Remove tea basket, ball or bag, and enjoy. Use more tea leaves for a stronger flavour and less for a milder flavour, as per your taste. Please note: The stronger the tea, the more potent the benefits.
To Make a Pot of Tea: Use one full tablespoon of tea per cup. Place the tea leaves in your teapot, and pour fresh boiling water over the tea leaves. Let the tea steep for 5 - 10 minutes, and pour through a small strainer directly into the cup. Use more tea for a stronger flavour and less for a milder flavour, as per your taste. Please note: The stronger the tea, the more potent the benefits.
To Make 1 Quart of Iced Tea: Pour 2 cups of boiling water over 8 teaspoons of tea, cover and add sweetener if desired. Infuse for 20 minutes. Strain and add 2 cups of cold water, and refrigerate. Pour over ice to serve.
