I have used stevia powder (the white extract) for many years and love it. This natural form, unfortunately, does not dissolve in coffee and is very bitter and unpleasant. Now I understand why mine says debittered. Pity...its going into my compost heap.

Id been seeing a lot of recipes using stevia as a sugar substitute and tried this on a batch of brownies. The smell of the stevia was so strong and off-putting that it gave me a headache. Don even get me started on how much worse the taste is. It also left my brownies a very dark brown, nearly black in colour. Perhaps I should have been using refined stevia but this experience leaves me skeptical. Avoid.

This product doesn work if you need a sugar substitute in your tea of coffee. Please don ... it taste nasty also it doesn dissolve like sugar, xylitol or coconut blossom. However, if you looking for something to add sweetness to your cooking - like a homemade chutney, or you just need that hint of sweetness to your food then i recommend this product. It blends in with the cooking, and the taste disappears. All you need is less than a half a teaspoon.

I have been using the refined white stevia for some time now, but I am very glad to have discovered the pure, organic dried version. It has a clean, sweet herbal taste very pleasant in herbal teas and in my morning coffee. This product is definitely helpful to anyone wanting to cut out refined sugars and sweeteners, and who wants a natural herbal alternative.
