Stir-Fried Cabbage with Bengali 5 spice mix Recipe:
- 3 tab organic olive oil
- 2 teaspoons minced ginger
- 1 teaspoon turmeric
- 1 onion, thinly sliced
- 1 head cabbage, finely shredded
- salt to taste
- 2 teaspoons Bengali 5 spice mix (panch phoron)
Heat 2 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the ginger, turmeric, and onion. Stir-fry until the onion is soft and beginning to brown. Add the cabbage and salt and stir fry until the cabbage is slightly wilted.
In a separate pan heat the remainder of oive oil and when hot, add the panch phoron. As soon as the mixture crackles and is aromatic, pour it over the cabbage and mix. Serve hot as a side dish.

I would HIGHLY recommend this spice mix especially in chicken dishes and pastas. We grind it finer as we need it and it always delivers the most incredible dash of divine to any dish its added to. The mix of flavors lend towards the spicy with clear curry and pepper notes coming though, but no burn, just organic spicy yumminess!
