You can enjoy bread that cuts smears and tastes like fresh bread again with Glutagons Buckwheat Bread premix. Glutagon specialises in gluten-free alternatives so that those with celiac disease or gluten sensitivity can still enjoy the equivalent of wheat-based foods without the ill effects of gluten. Despite its name, buckwheat isn’t related to wheat, it’s actually a fruit seed related to rhubarb and sorrel that makes a good substitute for those avoiding gluten. It’s also very nutritious, being rich in flavonoids and phytonutrients that protect your body against heart disease and oxidation.

Preparing Your Buckwheat Bread

Please Note: While the contents of this product are vegan, the suggested recipe below and included with the product is not, and will need to be modified with vegan alternatives to make it a vegan food.


  • 10g instant dry yeast powder
  • 250 ml very warm water
  • 30 ml vegetable oil
  • 2 egg whites


  • Empty the mix into a bowl
  • Add the rest of the ingredients
  • Mix with an electric mixer doe 3 minutes with one paddle
  • Spoon into a greased baking tin aprox 21cm x 11cm x 6.5cm height
  • Do not cover and place in a sheltered place such as a microwave or oven to rise
  • After about 25 minutes or when the bread has risen 3 cm above the baking tin rim, bake at 220 °C for about 35 minutes
  • Remove from oven and tin and allow to cool completely before slicing

  • Almost like wheat bread
    13 Jan, 2017, By Adriaan This bread is delicious! Its best eaten warm from the oven with lashings of butter but is also good to slice, freeze and toast. It has a crisp crust and is soft and fluffy inside. Really good!
